Michigan Farm House
Another amazing Farm & Frolic weekend is now in the books, this time at the Farmhouse where everything began! It’s incredible to witness what once was a small group grow, especially as we welcomed students from 12 different schools for a day of fun, relaxation, and learning!
The morning started with a warm greeting from Dan Bennett of Big Shoulders, setting a positive tone for the day ahead. Following the welcome, our mentors Cortez Cross and Luke, affectionately known as "Tarzan," led a stretching and warm-up session that energized everyone for the day's activities.
After a light lunch, students eagerly immersed themselves in various activities against the cozy backdrop of the farmhouse. One notable change this time was intentionally mixing students from different schools into groups, encouraging new friendships and sparking engaging conversations—it was beautiful to see them fully leaning into this!
Throughout the afternoon, students rotated through these sessions:
Herbalist Carly led a Nature Hike, teaching students to identify plants visually.
Our lead chaperone facilitated Journaling and Art sessions, providing an outlet for creativity.
Cortez Cross led lively Exercise Activities that kept everyone active and energized.
At the Pilot Light Workshop, students learned about nutrition and food choices while making granola.
Of course, we also prioritized plenty of free time, with open play including volleyball, football, frisbee, and tree climbing. A highlight was a volleyball game where students from all schools came together and played!
And it wouldn't be a complete F&F weekend without the dynamic duo Adrienne and Luke leading a soothing Sound Bath and Meditation session, offering a calming and restorative experience for all.
The day concluded with a communal dinner followed by popsicles! Another fun-filled day to remember.
